Swell Taco, Lily Flanagan's Take Top Chili, Chowder Awards

The Babylon Booster Club's Chili and Chowder Cook-Off raised money for local students and stimulated the taste buds of the judges.

The Babylon Booster Club's Homecoming Chili and Chowder Cook-Off was a huge success with ten local restaurants and ten residents competiting for the titles of best dishes in the village.

Swell Taco, the new California-like taco eatery in the village, took home the prize for the best chili in Babylon Village.

Lily Flanagan's, the noted restaurant and bar on Deer Park Avenue, took home the award for the best chowder among the competitors in Babylon.

In the residents category, Jules LaRock's turkey chili won her first place, and the Booster Club's claim to "bragging rights," for the next year.

The chili's and chowders were judged by a local celebrity panel consisting of Babylon Superintendent Richard Rozakis, Babylon High School Principal Al Cirone, Resident Connoisseur Tim Dunn, Real Time Reporting's Ellen Birch and Mayor Ralph Scordino.

Other competing restaurants in the competition included the Argyle Grill, Horace & Sylvia's and the Post Office Cafe.
