Varsity Softball Game Will Benefit Figoski Scholarship

The high school team will play a special night game to raise funds in honor of slain West Babylon resident.

The Babylon Varsity Girls softball team will participate in a night softball fundraising game to help launch a Babylon Village Little League Scholarship in honor of slain New York police officer Peter Figoski.

The scholarship effort, which is the brainchild of Kevin Going and Rick Punzone, the girls softball coach, will be awarded to a junior and senior at Babylon High School each year.

Figoski, a 47-year-old West Babylon resident and father of four daughters, was shot in the face and killed while investigating a break-in at a Brooklyn apartment on December 12, 2011.
