W. Babylon Class of 2013 Valedictorian: Wasiq Ahmad

West Babylon's top student will head to Hofstra University this fall with a future in medicine.

The West Babylon School District has named Wasiq Ahmad as the Class of 2013 valedictorian. 

Throughout his academic career, Wasiq has worked diligently to demonstrate the characteristics of an exemplary student.

Wasiq is the picture of West Babylon success. He boasts an impressive grade point average of 109.10 that is indicative of the level of commitment he has for all that he does.

Whether volunteering in his community, writing a collection of humorous short essays or participating in activities sponsored by the National Honor Society, of which he is a member, Wasiq dedicates himself to his craft.

No stranger to leadership, Wasiq serves as vice president of the Quiz Bowl team, president of Math Olympiad, and captain of the Mock Trial and Science Olympiad teams.  A talented student, Wasiq has received numerous honors and awards, including several medals for his success over the years as a participant in the Olympiada of Spoken Russian, a global semifinalist in the Ayn Rand Essay Contest, and a winner of Principal’s Quality Achievement Awards in math, science, social studies, English, physical education, history and foreign language.

When he is not taking part in one of his many school activities, tutoring fellow students or volunteering at his local mosque, Wasiq can be found preparing for a future in medicine as he readies himself for September, when he will be a member of the B.S./M.D. program at Hofstra University in conjunction with North Shore-LIJ Hospital.
