W. Babylon Junior High Students Honored for Artwork

Students recognized by Young Illustrators Challenge for their inspiring pieces.

Two students from West Babylon Junior High School in the West Babylon School District won awards in the second annual Young Illustrators Challenge, for which they were recently honored at a reception at Harbor Country Day School.

The competition and exhibition were created to challenge and inspire young artists in Suffolk County. The theme of the challenge was "Journey."

Stephanie Gress, a curator and art historian at the Vanderbilt Museum, and Lois Reboli, an artist and educator, carried out the judging for the competition. They selected the works of Christina Capobianco (second place, grade 6-8 category) and Ivy Greco (third place, grade 6-8 category) for recognition.
