W. Babylon Student Receives Presidential Honor

Student honored for volunteer service by President Barack Obama.

West Babylon Senior High School student Jacqueline Izzo was recently honored for her exemplary volunteer service with a President’s Volunteer Service Award.

The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was awarded through the Presidential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of President Barack Obama.

Jacqueline has an extensive history of volunteer service, including her work with the Methodist Church Youth Group, Good Samaritan Hospital and Quinipet Camp on Shelter Island. In addition to her involvement with local soup kitchens and school clubs such as SADD, Leaders Club and Peer Mediation, Jacqueline spreads awareness for a myriad of external causes, including Spread the Word to End the Word and the John Theissen Children’s Foundation.
