W. Babylon Students Create Wonderland of Well Wishes

Students district-wide help to ease some of the pain at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT.

Students from the West Babylon Senior High School, and Forest Avenue, Santapogue and South Bay Elementary Schools in the West Babylon School District answered the call of the Sandy Hook PTA after the Dec. 14 tragedy in Newtown, CT.

In an effort to ease some of the pain, the Sandy Hook PTA asked for schools nationwide to make paper snowflakes so that they could create a "winter wonderland" for the students to see when they arrived back to school after the break.

The West Babylon students worked diligently to create hundreds of snowflakes to line the school’s hallways. Kindergarten students of Forest Avenue Elementary joined the effort and made “love bugs,” symmetrical painted pieces of art, to accompany the snowflakes.

“It’s nice to think that the creative work of our students might put a smile on the faces of the children from Sandy Hook,” said West Babylon Senior High School Principal Dr. Ellice Vassallo.
