West Babylon School Budget Fails to Pierce Tax Cap

West Babylon residents defeated a proposed $100.6 million school budget on Tuesday.

A majority of voters cast ballots in favor of the budget–1,432-1,355–but because the budget was over the state's tax cap, a 60 percent supermajority vote was needed for approval.

In school board elections, incumbent Cathy Gismervik and newcomers Raymond M. Downey, Jr. and Jennifer Longo won seats.
