West Babylon Schools to Make Up Seven Days

School district releases new, updated calendar with seven additional days to make up for those lost.

The West Babylon School Board has released a new school calendar for the rest of the 2012-2013 school year, including the make-up days for those lost in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy in October and November.

Instead of intended days off, students will be expected to head to class for the following days:

  • January 11th
  • February 20th through 22nd
  • March 13th
  • May 24th
  • May 28th

The school district was closed for a total of seven school days as Hurricane Sandy made landfall on Monday, October 29th and did not reopen until Wednesday, November 7th.

Babylon Schools will only make up 4 out of the 7 missed days, as announced earlier last month. That district will use three of its "snow days" to alleviate the number of days to be made up, but students there have lost all of their normal Winter Break in February with the exception of Presidents' Day.

The West Babylon School District also announced that, in the case of inclement weather and future snow days, March 26th, March 27th, and March 28th could be added as open days.
