Find a Unique "Thriftique" Gift at Deja Vu on Main

Thrift-antique store owner speaks to Patch about her business giving customers "deja vu."

A lot goes into the world of finding antiques, and, heck, a lot more goes into finding items that can be resold at as thrift – combining the both at one store though, is a monumental task that often results in a wonderfully quirky store filled with new things every visit.

Enter Deja Vu on Main.

Patch spoke with owner Betty Ann Crimi about how she has remained successful and the changes she has seen in her years as owner.

When did Deja Vu open?
We opened November 7, 2010 – almost three years to the day.

How much has changed in those three years?
A lot! We've been trying to get new places to get new stuff in, and we've been always trying to change it up. Business here has been good.

What's it like competing with other stores, online or not?
Most of those other places out there are selling things that are brand new. Deja Vu is all one-of-a-kinds – some of the things here are brand new, some of the things are very old. I don't feel threatened by other stores. With a thriftique store, you get a little bit of everything here.

What sets you apart from any other antique store?
Like I said, we have things that are simply one of a kind. People come in and they're like "Oh my God! My grandmother had this!" They actually have a deja vu when they come in – it just brings them right back in their memories. We may not have a lot but we have a diverse amount of things.
