Babylon Resident Will Be Inducted into St. Joseph's Athletic Hall of Fame

Angela Chiarelli, a 1996 graduate, will join others in the Golden Eagle Athletic Hall of Fame.

St. Joseph’s College will induct Angela Chiarelli, a 1996 graduate and former team member of the women’s soccer and softball teams, into the Golden Eagle Athletic Hall of Fame later this year.

During her soccer career, Chiarelli was named team "most valuable player" and was twice honored at the All-Independent Athletic Conference. She was a team captain in 1996 for the IAC champions and was named the conference’s player of the year, and defensive MVP at the Mount Saint Mary College Tournament.

In addition to a successful soccer career, Chiarelli was a two-time softball team captain, MVP and Golden Eagle Award winner. She posted incredible numbers during that time as she led team with a .603 batting average in 1996, along with 28 steals and 37 runs scored.

Chiarelli, who now lives in Babylon Village with her husband, Michael, and their six-month-old son, is a former public accountant who spends her free time organizing and participating in fundraisers for multiple sclerosis.

Chiarelli’s induction will take place at the Fifth Annual Golden Eagle Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Friday, October 5 at 6 p.m. at the John A. Danzi Athletic Center located on the College’s Long Island Campus in Patchogue, NY.

Established in 2008 by the Office of Alumni Relations and Department of Athletics at SJC, the Golden Eagle Athletic Hall of Fame honors former athletes, coaches and friends of the College who have contributed significantly to the athletic program and continue to exemplify the principles of sportsmanship and integrity through their contributions and achievements in their respective communities and professions.
