Lady Panthers Volleyball Fall in State Tournament

Historic season ends for girls, however, with Suffolk and Long Island Championships.

The historic season for the Babylon Panthers' girls varsity volleyball team ended on Saturday afternoon in Glen Falls after being eliminated by three different teams, according to Newsday.

The team was eliminated by three other public schools from upstate New York – Voorheesville, Millbrook and Eden.

"I think we're really proud to make it this far and to end the season like this, but I don't think we're disappointed," senior Mary Tighe told Newsday. "Obviously we wanted to go further but we're proud of ourselves."

The Lady Panthers have everything to be proud of – a 17-2 overall record led them to a Suffolk County Championship over Greenport and the first Long Island Championship in volleyball for Babylon High School, won on November 13th against Oyster Bay.

"Overall this was our best season," senior Elizabeth Tighe told Newsday. "We made some mistakes here but we couldn't have asked for anything more."

"We knew this would be a tough competition for us but we won our first county title and our first Long Island championship so coming here to represent at the state championships... this was just extra," said Coach Patrick Donaldson to Newsday. "For the girls to participate in this was a big deal."
