Panthers Beat Baymen 29-0 in Football Playoffs
Babylon will advance to the second round to take on Bayport-Blue Point next weekend.
In what could have been a redemption game for the Hampton Bays Baymen, and a trap game for the Babylon Panthers, turned out to be nothing more than deja vu for both squads in the first round of the Division IV quarterfinals.
There was nothing remotely close to traps laying in wait for the Panthers on the Babylon Junior Senior High School football field Saturday afternoon.
The offensive squad was able to do pretty much whatever it wanted with little resistance from the Baymen's defensive line. And while the score wasn't as high as their regular season game match-up (34-7) the Panthers once again took control of the game from the get-go and never looked back.

Trevor Fudim had 21 carries for 144 yards and one touchdown to bring his full season total to 18 total touchdowns. Sam Zamet passed for 94 yards while completing six out of his 11 passes and one interception.
At the end of the first quarter the score was 15-0 Panthers.

Hampton Bays attempted some adjustments that did keep the score lower than it could have been as many Panther drives did not result in points.
On the Babylon defensive side, Nick Brennan, who played well throughout the game, had two sacks and added a fumble recovery for a touchdown which made the score 22-0 at the end of the third quarter.
The Panthers had two chances to score in the third quarter but quarterback Zamet was intercepted on an early drive. It was his first interception this season.
In the fourth quarter Babylon added its last touchdown due to running back Grant Shannon.
The Panthers will now face the Bayport-Blue Point Phantoms, another squad it beat during regular season play with a score of 45-21.
But this time Babylon won't have the home field advantage in the semi-final game as Bayport's seed placement was higher than the Panthers in the postseason rankings.
Come out and cheer on the Panthers when they take the field at 1pm at Bayport Blue Point High School next Saturday.
