Panthers Boys Varsity Basketball Headed to Playoffs

Basketball team wraps up 2012-13 season in first place in their league.

The Babylon Boys Varsity Basketball team is headed to playoffs again, ending a great season in first place of their division.

The Panthers ended the 2012-13 season with a 13-1 in-conference record and 16-2 overall, leading the Suffolk County League VII Conference by two games.

The Babylon Panthers will open the playoffs as the number-one seed on Thursday, February 14 at Babylon High School against the number-four seeded Center Moriches Red Devils (8-6, 8-10).

In their previous meetings this season, Babylon won 64-58 at Center Moriches on Jan. 11 and 62-48 on Feb. 5 at home.

The Panthers' Fernando Vazquez led the team in scoring this season, averaging 20.4 points per game and followed by the presence Jake Carlock and Ray Wardell on the court, each totaling double-digit points per game this season.
