Panthers Stretch Winning Streak to 14 Games

Babylon wins again as they crush division opponent Shoreham-Wading River.

The Babylon Panthers varsity football team kept up their winning ways this past Friday, downing the Shoreham-Wading River Wildcats in Babylon, 36-14.

The Panthers offensive attack went right to work on Friday with runningback Eric Schweitzer rushing in one yard for the early 7-0 lead. Quarterback Nick Santorelli followed it up in the first quarter with a 30 yard pass to wide receiver Ray Wardell, giving Babylon the 14-0 lead.

Schweitzer ran the ball in 14 yards for the first scoring play of the second quarter and wide receiver Jake Carlock caught at 19 yard pass from Santorelli for the big 29-0 lead at the half.

The Babylon defense kept the Wildcats in check throughout most of the game, only allowing two second-half scores for a final of 36-14.

Santorelli was spectacular on the day, going 14-for-16 on throws and passing 200 yards with three touchdowns.

The Panthers are now 2-0 on the season, with 14 straight wins dating back to the beginning of last season.

Babylon will head to Port Jefferson next week for a face-off with the Royals on Sept. 28 at 2 p.m.
