Panthers' Victory Punches Ticket to County Finals

Babylon improves to a crazy 22-0 in their last 22 games with postseason win.

The Babylon Panthers are heading to the Suffolk County Division IV Championships after recording their 10th straight victory this season, a semi-finals win over number four-ranked Shoreham-Wading River, 42-13.

The game did not start well for the perfect Panthers, fumbling on their first possession of the game. A diving interception by Jake Carlock with one-hand changed that though, giving Babylon a new focus and new found life in the game.

Runningback Eric Schweitzer led the charge with a 37-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter, giving Babylon the early 7-0 lead. On the next possession, quarterback Nick Santorelli followed the lead with his own rushing touchdown.

And before the Wildcats could land on their paws, Schweitzer was at it again slamming a one-yard rushing touchdown in for a 20-0 lead in the middle of the second quarter.

After a 36 yard pass by Shoreham-Wading River pulled them back to within 14 points, Santorelli found Ray Wardell in the endzone for a 20 yard touchdown, slamming the door on the Wildcats' 2013 season.

The Panthers improved to 10-0 in 2013, and 22-0 in since the beginning of 2012.

The defending Long Island Champions will head to Stony Brook University this Thursday to first defend their Suffolk County crown against number-three ranked Glenn at 7:30 p.m.
