Reynolds Named Co-Captain of Navy Men's LAX Team

Babylon High School graduate leads team into 2012 season.

Babylon High School graduate Taylor Reynolds was named co-captain for the Navy men’s lacrosse team for the upcoming season. The senior attackman shares the captaincy with Logan West of Berlin, Maryland.

This is only the 12th time in the academy’s 105 years of lacrosse play that co-captains have been named.

In 2011, Reynolds was a starter on the Navy’s attack line where he scored 10 goals and had 12 total points. He was also a member of the team’s extra-man squad that scored goals on 19 of its 55 man-up opportunities, which ranked 22nd nationally.

Majoring in oceanography, Reynolds has also excelled in the classroom where he was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in 2011 for his 3.20 grade point average in the spring 2011. During the fall of 2011, he was named to the Naval Academy’s Dean’s List with a 3.75 grade point average.

Upon graduation in May, Reynolds will be commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy where he will serve as a surface warfare officer.

“While I was not here at the time Taylor and Logan were voted captains, upon my arrival it did not take very long for me to realize why they were chosen to lead the 2012 team,” said first-year Navy head coach Rick Sowell.  “Not only do they lead by example, but when the situation calls for it, they will not hesitate to step up and say the right thing or do what needs to be done.  They have played an integral part in making my transition to the team a smooth one.”

A member of the high school’s Class of 2007, Reynolds was a three-sport athlete who lettered in lacrosse, soccer and track & field. He helped lead the lacrosse team to the 2004 Suffolk County title and helped the soccer team win the 2006 county championship. He also received All-County honors in track & field in 2006 and 2007.
