Runners Hit Village Trails For a Good Cause

The sixth annual 10K Dirty Stock Run drew 550 local and Long Island runners.

The Dirty Sock Run 10K trail race, which started at the Babylon Memorial Grade School then to Belmont Lake and back, saw hundreds of runners of all ages competing in Babylon Village's trail system.

Hapi Aeur, the race's organizer and owner of Glen's Dinette, said the race a success and was appreciative of village's help maintaining the 6.2 mile course through Southards Pond Park.

"They do a great job, and awesome clubs show up and a bunch of nice locals," Auer said.

The race ran smoothly, as athletes as young as 10 up to 70-and-over master runners competed to place in their age group or just to finish a fun run.

A raffle drawing followed the awards ceremony, with many Babylon Village restaurants donating gift certificates, and the grand prize of a flat screen tv donated by Plessers.
