Three Varsity Football Players Named to All-State Team

Babylon Panthers went a perfect 12-0 on the 2012 season, winning the Long Island Championship.

Three of the Babylon Panthers' varsity football squad's players were named to the New York State Sports Writer's Association all-state first team for 2012.

Linebacker Eric Schweitzer, Defensive back Jake Carlock and punt kicker Alex Malhas were all awarded first team defense status by the NYSSWA. The team is compiled of the top players in the state among schools similar in size.

In addition, offensive lineman Andrew Watson was named to the Second Team Offense and offensive lineman Jeann Cruz was named to the Third Team Offense.

Quarterback Nick Santorelli was given an honorable mention at quarterback along with two other players.

The Babylon Panthers varsity football team had a year for the ages, routing their division to the tune of a 12-0 record and capturing the Suffolk County and Long Island Championships.

The team was also awarded the Rutgers Trophy, given to the best team overall in Suffolk County, after the season.
