Video, Photos: Babylon Wins Class B Basketball Championship

The Babylon Panthers rumbled right over the Southampton Mariners, 82-57, for first title in 25 years.

The Babylon Panthers boys varsity basketball team did something Wednesday night other Panther teams in over the last 25 years had not done – won the Suffolk County Championship.

The number-one ranked Panthers (13-1, 18-2) routed the number-two ranked Mariners by a score of 82-57 in front of a packed house at Patchogue-Medford High School on Wednesday night, winning the Suffolk County Class B 2012-13 Championship.

The Panthers were led by star player Fernando Vazquez, who put up 30 points in the game and 14 during a big third quarter that saw Babylon increase their lead to 29 points and the eventual win.
