The Babylon Panthers varsity basketball team started their 2013 playoff run on the right foot, defeating the Center Moriches Red Devils 70-54 in the opening round of the Suffolk County Class B basketball playoffs.
The Panthers overcame an early deficit in the first half with a double-double effort from Jake Carlock (16 pts, 13 rebounds) and rode star players Fernando Vazquez (21 pts) and Ray Wardell (16 pts) and to victory in a dominating second-half.
The Panthers, seeded number one in their division, will go onto face Southampton, sedded number two, next Wednesday in the Class B finals at Patchogue-Medford High School.
