W. Babylon Star Softball Pitcher Headed to New Pro League

Olivia Galati was drafted number one by the NY/NJ Comets.

West Babylon star pitcher Olivia Galati will be headed to the majors – the recent Hofstra University graduate will be a part of a brand-new professional softball league.

Galati was drafted first by the New York/New Jersey Comets, a new team in the National Pro Fastpitch league beginning its inaugural season this month.

Games for the new teams are going to be held at minor league baseball stadiums.

The Comets will play in New York at Provident Bank Park in Pomona on June 13 at 6:30 p.m., June 14 at 7 p.m., and August 1 at 7 p.m., August 2 at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. and August 3 at 7 p.m.

Galati tossed five perfect games and 12 no-hitters in her sparkling college career.

Her 20 shutouts and 370 strikeouts this past season lead all of the NCCA's Division I softball and her 36 wins lead the nation.
