Weekend Planner: Concerts, Farmer's Market

A big weekend is on tap for Babylon as temperatures soar and summer really kicks off!

This weekend is set to be big for Babylon between big events and the rising mercury on the thermostat. Please stay safe this weekend as temperatures as set to stay around 90 degrees until Monday with high humidity making it feel like 95 to 100 degrees. Stay hydrated and keep cool!

Friday

Expand your world by checking out a film from outside the United States at at the West Babylon Public Library. This week's screening will be "Departures" (rated PG-13), a 2008 film about a newly unemployed cellist takes a job prepping the dead for funerals. The film is free and starts at 1:00pm.

Overlook Beach will be the home of the next show in the – "Big Shot" will be performing all of Billy Joel's greatest hits. The concert is free for all Babylon residents and begins at 7:30pm.

Saturday

Get ready for another day full of savings in Babylon Village as the Chamber of Commerce puts on another Sidewalk Sale! Local vendors will be discounting items and showing off their best stuff on a beautiful day in Babylon starting at 9:00am until 5:00pm.

Join local Legislator Wayne Horsley and Senator Tim Bishop on Saturday morning as they rename a street in West Babylon in honor of Sgt. William B. McKenna at 10:30am. The West Babylon High School alum died last year after a long battle with cancer brought on by fumes inhaled while serving in Iraq.

Have you been inspired by shows like Pawn Stars, American Pickers or Storage Wars? Head over to the West Babylon Public Library at 2:00pm to learn from Eddie Costello how to identify today's hottest antiques and collectibles. The first 40 registered patrons to  will be guarenteed a free apprasial. The show is open to all and free.

Actor , better known as Vito Spatafore from The Sopranos, will be signing copies of his new book at Francesco's Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria in Babylon at 5:00pm. The event itself is free and books should be on hand to purchase.

Tanger Outlets at The Arches will play host to right near the Arches Fountain starting at 6:00pm. The performer was not formally announced but has featured other up and coming acts and should be a great, free event!

Sunday

Babylon Village will host a on Sunday outside of Railroad Express Bagels and the LIRR station. The market will feature the best organic food grown from nearby farms – milk, produce, bread, chesse, wine, beers, baked goods, dips, jams and all items are certified to be organic. The market kicks off at 8:00am!
