Babylon Girl Scouts Help Donate to Beach House

Troop 283 collects large-print books to be donated to the home's new library.

Babylon Village's own Girl Scout Junior Troop 283 helped collect some new reading material for the recently reopened Babylon Beach House.

The Beach House, an assisted living facility, was completely ravaged during the storm surge of Hurricane Sandy in October, losing everything from furniture to clothing on the inside of the building. Since the storm waters receded  the owners have been hard at work repairing the gutted building and residents have started to return to the building.

What the new home was missing was it's library of large-print books, all of which were lost during the storm. A call went out during the last week for new books to be donated and the Girl Scouts, with the help of Babylon Public Libraryresponded.

The girls collected over 45 books on Thursday, April 25 to be given to the seniors later this week.

The troop, led by Ruth Levins and Anne Morrow, is: Samantha, Jessica, Caleigh, Angelina, Chicky (Alexandria), Stephanie, Kayla, Meghan, Brianna, Skylar and Lauren.
