Help the Hungry: Participate in Local Food Drive

A local legislator is running an annual food drive to make sure local pantries can help the needy this holiday season.

County Legislator Wayne R. Horsley is sponsoring a food drive in conjunction with Island Harvest.

Island Harvest has delivered more than 60 million pounds of food since its inception in 1992.

Donations of non-perishable foods may be dropped off Monday through Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m at Horsley's office at 123 North Wellwood Avenue in Lindenhurst from now until November 17.

Canned food items such as vegetables and fruits, peanut butter, nuts, rice, pasta, cereal, dry milk and baby foods are suggested items.
