Youth Project Fundraiser Tonight Honors Local Residents

The Babylon Youth Project will hold its annual event at the Hibernian Hall starting at 7pm.

Babylon Village Trustee Anthony DaVida and village resident and longtime volunteer Christopher Proto, are being honored this evening by the Babylon Youth Group Project.

The two honorees will be feted during the three-hour event at the Hibernian Hall that starts at 7 p.m. The fundraiser includes a buffet, chinese auction and entertainment. Tickets are $40 and can be bought at the door or before by calling 587-7117.

The nonprofit organization supports programs and services for youths between the ages of nine and 20 from the Babylon Village area, and while funded through the Town of Babylon Youth Institute it also depends on local community donations.

The group is dedicated to providing youths with opportunities to do voluntary community service and its office spaces serves as a youth center environment. It also offers young kids the opportunity to go on trips to museums, historical sites, theatre productions, camping and participate in youth hostel group living experiences. Its youth center provides over 15 computers for school projects, homework research, and surfing the Web. Youth members also have use of a big screen TV and all of the current video game systems.
