Tropical Storm to Drop About an Inch of Rain Through Fri. A.M.

Main brunt of the storm expected throughout the day Friday.

A big storm, which will combine with a tropical storm later tonight, is expected to drop upwards of an inch of rain through sunrise Friday morning.

Forecasts call for the current storm front to move in towards the Long Island area with heavy cloud cover throughout the afternoon before rain, most of it heavy, begins after 9 p.m. across Long Island.

The precipitation is expected to pick up through the morning Friday, when heavy tropical bands of Tropical Storm Andrea will begin to pour across the island. Andrea, however, is expected to make a transition to post-tropical status by this point and will begin to lose energy.

The storm total forecast is still expected to be anywhere between three and five inches of rain from Five Towns to Montauk Point.

In our photos above, we've included rainfall forecast maps from the National Weather Service for your convenience.

Patch will keep updating throughout Andrea about any changes in the forecast! Stay tuned!
