Up to Three Inches of Snow Forecast for Tuesday

Long Island's third snowstorm in eight days not expected to leave major accumulations.

Another day and another snowfall in the forecast for Long Island – towns across the island could see as much as three inches of the white stuff throughout the day on Tuesday, arriving just as the morning rush hour commute begins.

A second burst of heavier snow from the storm could be seen late afternoon through the early evening as the quick-moving system begins to pull away.

Winds are expected to remain light between 10 to 20 mph throughout the duration of the storm, which should help prevent blowing snow and whiteout conditions on the roadways.

The storm is expected to be out of the Long Island area by late Tuesday night.

Tuesday's storm will make it three accumulating snowfalls within eight days for Long Island before the winter season officially begins on Saturday.
