Homecoming, Fall Harvest Street Fair Among Highlights This Week

A look at the week ahead here in the village.

Get out your calendars and mark this down – every important event, meeting or gathering going on in Babylon Village this week, conveniently in one post. If you have an event you think should be listed here, please leave a comment or add it to the Events here.

Columbus Day

Schools and government buildings will be closed on Monday, October 14 for the national holiday. Ring your favorite businesses ahead of time to see if they're closed as well.

Of course, the holiday also means no garbage pick-up nor mail delivery during the day either.

PUBLIC MEETINGS

The Babylon Village Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a meeting at Village Hall this Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. to discuss zoning changes at several properties, including one we've previously written about. All are welcome to the public meeting.

The Babylon School Board will be holding a Facilities and Bond Referendum Workshop the same night at 7 p.m at Rowe Hall to discuss potential upgrades to the district's buildings. All, again, are welcome to the event.

FALL HARVEST STREET FAIR

The Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 21st annual Fall Harvest Festival Street Fair starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Come on out for yummy food, live entertainment and a slew of good deals from our local stores as the annual Deer Park Avenue closure allows for fun from beginning to end.

SPORTS EVENTS

The annual Randy Zwerlein Under the Lights soccer games will take place on Friday evening at the high school field. The boys and girls soccer teams will play night games on the field in honor of a beloved Babylon community member. Come on out for some great sports and to help honor a community member.

The Babylon Panthers varsity football team will look to continue their winning ways this weekend... at Homecoming! The parade will take place on Main Street and Deer Park Avenue around noon before the Panthers take the field against the Mount Sinai Mustangs at 2 p.m. at the football field.
