Babylon Agenda: POW/MIA Vigil, Americana Fest

Check out what's happening around Babylon this weekend, Sept. 7-8.

The unofficial end of summer may now be in the rear-view mirror, but the weather is still toasty and there's still plenty to do around town on the weekend. 

Babylon

Babylon Village's American Legion Post 94 will host a Military Ball in honor of our men and women in the Armed Forces at 8 p.m. on Saturday. Admission will help the community focal point legion building pay for a new roof.

Lindenhurst

  • St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lindenhurst will host their 13th Annual Fall Festival “Americanafest” on Sunday from noon- 4 p.m. Games, food, live music, fun for all ages. $15 for adults, $8 for children 12 and under and children 5 and under free.
  • The Town of Babylon will hold a POW/MIA Vigil at Babylon Town Hall starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday through 8 a.m. Saturday to honor those who never made it home and to support our troops who are currently serving our country For more information, contact Maureen Gruenwald of the Boy Scouts of America at (631) 793-4663 or Charles Volpe of American Legion at (631) 669-3931.

North Babylon

The NY/NJ Region of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA) will be holding their annual Team Hope Walk Long Island on Sunday at Belmont Lake State Park, Birch Pavillion. The Team Hope Walk program is HDSA’s largest grassroots event, being held on over 100 cities across the country. All proceeds support HDSA’s fight to improve the lives of people affected by HD and their families. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and walk kick off begins at 10 a.m.
