The mercury will reach the upper-70s this weekend so there's no reason to not get out and enjoy some of the events on tap in the area. Here's a rundown:
NORTH BABYLON
5K Walk & Wheel
The United Cerebral Palsy Association of Greater Suffolk, Inc (UCP of Suffolk) will hold its 4th Annual 5K Walk & Wheel at Belmont Lake State Park at 8 a.m. Saturday. Proceeds from the Walk & Wheel will support vital programs and services which help create Life Without Limits for people with disabilities. Register/donate here.
WEST ISLIP
Fundraiser
The West Islip Fire Department Vanguard Engine Company will hold a comedy night/dinner fundraiser on Saturday at the West Islip Fire department headquarters at 309 Union Blvd. Dinner is at 6:30 p.m., show starts at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 a person.
The Headless Horseman
The South Shore Theater Experience presents The Headless Horseman on Sunday at noon. It is a musical and imaginative retelling of Washington Irving's tale, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" performed by our Children's Rep Company. A fun show for the entire family. All tickets are $10. The South Shore Theater, Main Stage, at 350 Higbie Lane, West Islip.
LINDENHURST
Self Defense Classes
The Modern Warrior will host a week of self defense classes for women for Female Self-Defense Week starting Friday. Check outhere for more information on the courses.
ConcertThe Lindenhurst Memorial Library will host an indoor concert starting at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday featuring the "Just Sixties" band.
