Babylon Agenda: Walk-A-Thon to Fight Childhood Cancer

Check out what's happening around Babylon this weekend, Sept. 20-22.

The first day of fall is on Sunday, but it's not time to get in your Snuggie and curl up on the couch just yet. There's plenty going on around town this weekend. Here's our picks: 

LINDENHURST

Renna Foundation Walk-A-Thon

The Christina Renna Foundation will be hold its seventh annual Walk-A-Thon and Blood Drive on Sunday. The event's proceeds will benefit the Children's Cancer Research Center at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. The walk and blood drive are part of the family’s yearly event schedule, which also includes a golf outing, fishing outing and gala. The annual event takes place at Lindenhurst Middle School's track starting at 10 a.m. Sunday. For more information on the Walk-A-Thon, visit the Christina Renna Foundation website.

NORTH BABYLON

Long Island Walk to End Alzheimer's

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held on Sunday. Belmont Lake State Park is the scene of one of more than 600 walks taking place nationwide. Check in is at 9 a.m. with the walk ceremony starting at 10 a.m.  For more information and to register,  click here

One SMALL Step 5k and Kid's Run for Ella

Come out for a family fun day, and 5k and Kid's Run benefiting the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research on Saturday at 9 a.m. at Tanner Park. Enjoy refreshments, a DJ, post race yoga cool down, face painting, balloon animals, carnival games, raffles including a trip, iPad, and much much. Learn more about Ella and Prader-Willi Syndrome here. Register for the race online here

Babylon Rotary 22nd Annual Endless Summer Food and Wine Expo

More than 35 local restaurants and wineries will be providing samples of their menus and libations under a big tent at the the beautiful LI Yacht Club on the bay starting at 3 p.m. Sunday. Dancing and Chinese Auction; $50 per person. Tickets available at babylonrotary.com. All proceeds benefit the numerous charities supported by the Babylon Rotary Club.
