Share the Voice Donates Tricycle to Disabled W. Babylon Child

Share the Voice, a non-profit organization established to enhance the lives of disabled children, announced that it delivered its second adaptive tricycle to a disabled child in West Babylon on Sat., July 27.

The Rifton adaptive tricycle, valued at over $1,700, was presented to 5-year-old Nicholas, who was diagnosed with hypotonia, or low-muscle tone.

“All adaptive equipment provides unlimited physical, cognitive and emotional benefits; but combining those benefits with making it fun to use is key. As a parent, seeing your child ride along with their siblings and neighborhood kids is heartwarming. We hope Nicolas enjoys this rite of passage as much as his sister and friends,” said Lynda Graham, founder and president of Share the Voice.

Established to enhance the lives of disabled children, Share the Voice says it aims to provide special needs children with adaptive tricycles built for their specific abilities. 

Recreational use of adaptive tricycles brings many rewards, including building self-esteem and confidence, providing stress relief, increasing social skills, strengthening weak muscles and stretching tight ones, and increasing balance and gross motor skills. Adaptive tricycles also help physically and a cognitively challenged child become more independent and gives them the freedom and ability to socialize with mainstream children.
