Babylon FD Knocks Down Robert Street Fire

Early afternoon fire damaged home at corner of Robert Street and Stowe Avenue.

The Babylon Fire Department quickly responded to a house fire at 44 Robert Street on Sunday afternoon, knocking down the fire after it damaged the southern portion of the home.

A dispatch went out at around 12:05 p.m. after flames and heavy black smoke was reported from the single-story ranch at 44 Robert Street. The Babylon Fire Department responded to the scene, bringing the fire under control by 12:30 p.m. and continued to work on the scene, knocking the remaining bits down.

Babylon Fire Chief Paul Twardy said there were no injuries on the scene from either residents or firefighters.

The cause of the fire will be under investigation shortly, Twardy noted.

The house fire was the second seen this month in the village, the last claiming a home on Kittiwake Lane on March 7.
