Two-Car Accident Sends One Woman to the Hospital

Traffic snarled up in both directions on Montauk Highway/Main Street.

A two-vehicle accident left at least one woman injured after a collision at Beachwood Drive on Montauk Highway/West Main Street on Tuesday afternoon.

West Babylon Fire Department crews responded to a call at around 12:50 p.m. Tuesday of a two-car accident near the street on the West Babylon-Babylon Village borders.

A tan Toyota Camry and a white Ford Ranger collided in the roadway, leading the smaller compact heavily damaged on its front portions and some damage on the pickup truck.

A woman driving the Toyota had to be removed from the vehicle by paramedics and firefighters before leaving the scene on a stretcher in an ambulance.

There was no immediate word on her condition.

The driver of the pickup truck was reportedly not seriously injured in the crash.

The collision left traffic on Montauk Highway an absolute mess, with backups in both directions. Westbound traffic was being redirected on to the residential Main Street block while eastbound traffic was squeezed down to one lane on the opposite side.
