W. Babylon Man Pleads Not Guilty in Brother's Fatal Stabbing

Man charged in brother's stabbing death wants to testify before grand jury.

The West Babylon man accused of stabbing his own brother to death on Saturday afternoon pled not guilty to the charges in court on Sunday.

According to Newsday, John Beaumont, 54, of West Babylon, pleaded not guilty to murder charges after police said he stabbed his brother, Thomas, 57, to death in their Densfield Road home on Saturday afternoon.

Prosecutors said Beaumont stabbed his brother once in the neck and once in the chest during an argument over a beer at their home that the brothers shared with their father in West Babylon.

Police said John called them to the home, admitting he had stabbed his brother in the process. Thomas was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he later died.

"He said he is innocent and is willing to testify before the grand jury," Beaumont's attorney Richard Stafford told Newsday.

Prosecutors, according to Stafford, have until Friday to present their case to a grand jury.
