Molto Vino Begins Expansion Project

Popular wine bar begins planned expansion to 55-seat area.

Babylon Village's wine and cheese osteria, Molto Vino, has begun its planned expansion into the storefronts to either side/

The popular wine bar will become a 55-seat bar, with a much larger room facing Deer Park Avenue once the construction is completed.

Plans also include a possible back patio area complete with even more seating during those summer nights.

Owner Massimiliano Gargiulo first brought his plans before the village's Planning Board at their February 28 meeting, showing floor plans for the additional seating and rearranged bar-area.

The plans included the moving of Gargiulo's Solo Vino wine shop to a new location and the elimination of the former Country Peddler storefront.

The village gave Gargiulo the all-clear in August, just in time for the move preparations to begin.

As of Oct. 7, Solo Vino was officially closed as wood replaced the front of the store. The wine shop will move a few doors down into the Hesperus' former location. That storefront, as of press time, was still undergoing renovations in anticipation of the move.

There was no immediate word on when the work would be completed.
